  • international news sites

once in a while I want to see what is going on in the world, and see it from a lens outside of reuters or AP.

These are English language sites. Kinda interesting.

From this side of the planet:

    Japan: http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/
China: http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/home/index.html (I'd like to find one printed out of Hong Kong or Taiwan, but the ones I had found required paid subscriptions).
    Australia: http://www.smh.com.au/
    New Zealand: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/

and from the other side of the planet:
    United Kingdom: http://www.bbc.co.uk
    Qatar: http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage

    Re: international news sites

Thank you for all those links. Really cool. Now it's easy anytime for any of us to check out any of those news services. Much Mahalos!

Today from the Daily Yomiuri Online...

The peace tower at the Peace Memorial Museum in Hiroshima, which displays the number of days since the last nuclear test, was reset to zero Friday after a subcritical nuclear experiment in Nevada was jointly conducted by the U.S. and British governments. Here's a LINK

        Article

Quote: "He said one of the State Council goals in strengthening the Premarital exam is to reduce the rate of Hereditary and even Sexually Transmitted Illnesses."

From the Sydney (Australia) Morning Herald...

Tenants line up 10 deep - rents market turns into a scrum

          Article

Sydney is in the grip of a rental drought that is pushing up rents by as much as 5.5 percent and inundating open inspections with scores of desperate tenants.

Sounds kinda like Honolulu, except we don't use words like "scrum".
