Bernard's New York Deli

Any of you folks remember Bernard's New York Deli, run by Bernard Horowitz during the 1990s at Kahala Mall and Ward Center? He had attempted a fundraising endeavor called "Bernard's Bucks" and got shot down by the state and he packed it all in.

Anyone know if he's around the Islands anymore or back to the mainland?

Someone had gotten in touch with me regarding a story I wrote in 1997 and he even addressed me by my maiden name which was my byline back then. I'm surprised he was able to find me as I don't have the same email address either!

I was just thinking about Bernard a couple of days ago and wondering whatever happened to him. I met him when I was writing about restaurants for another publication. I wasn't impressed with the food the day I went, but I ran into him a few times out on the town and enjoyed his company.
