I have an area of my yard where it's always damp. Taro, ti, gardenia, mondo grass, and spathiphyllium grow well there. I have some dwarf pittosporums that are dying though. I want to replace them with another plant. I'm leaning toward anthuriums or irises. I'm not sure. Basically it gets direct sunlight only when the sun is over head ... maybe 11 till 1 or so.

Re: Any plant experts around?
From what I've seen happening in our backyard, anthuriums don't like anykind of direct sunlight and "burn" very easily. The 2 hours of sunlight you get is probably the most intense you'll get during the day. Then again, I'm not an expert. I'd put a potted anthurium out in that area for a few days to see how it does. I do know that irises have no problems with even longer exposure to direct sunlight. Good luck.
