  • Any B movie fans out there?

I like watching B-movie once in a while and was wondering if thier are others on this board who like movies that are so "bad" they're good.

    My faves are:
    The Toxic Avenger
    Class of Nuke'Em High
    Peter Jackson's Bad Taste

These classics(?) are fun to watch when you have a rainy day with nothing to do.
What B- movies are you "guilty" of loving?

Does Tremors count? Kevin Bacon may have gotten top billing, but I loved Michael Gross's character even more. And, hey. Giant mutated worms. What's not to love?

        Crybaby, with Johnny Depp.

Also starring Amy Locane (Melrose Place), Ricki Lake, and Traci Lords (after she quit doing porn, of course).

Plot and acting-wise, a horrible movie in comparison to Johnny's current movies, but those stupid songs they sing stick in your head. You watch it purely for the cheese factor.

We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only

Not as good as Hairspray and Pink Flamingos, but a classic John Waters film.

No, it does not count. not even to three.
neither do the John Waters movies.

              a B movie is a low-budget commercial film, with lesser-known actors.

Depp, Bacon, et al are A list and these films are not low budget.

Wasn't A-lister George Clooney in one of the Killer Tomato movies?
Speaking of Killer.... Another classic is Killer Clowns From Outer Space.

I like the old B Westerns. Guys like John Wayne and Clint Eastwood...oooooops. Me thinks spaghetti westerns are a different genre? Still, Audy Murphy, Roy Rogers and others come to mind. Modern B movies, mmmmmmmm, nah. Most are worse than those old westerns, IMHO. At least the westerns had a simple story of somekind. Some of the modern B's have me going, "Huh?", "Wha..?", "Hah?".<LOL> If there's anything I hate, when being entertained, is the entertainment making me confused and making me wonder why I'm wasting my time.

this brings up a subclass altogether.
Having in their sights, the phenom of the cult classic (Rocy Horror), directors and producers attempt to create a tacky celluloid piece of junk with the sole intent of hoping it falls into the lucrative cult classic status.
This i believe (regardless of the budget of the flik in question) disqualifies it as a budget film, as B movies are a film company's fairly direct and sincere attempt to deliver the art rather than manipulate the public.

I agree Kimo....They do want CULT status. Look what happened when they tried to make a sequel to Rocky Horror, Shock Treatment bombed even with the die hard B-movie crowd.

Re: Any B movie fans out there?

i can't think of the title of this very old movie but i'm sure it'll take you guys a second to think of it. it's a comedy/horror movie where some old geezer works at a morge and he has some young assistant. somehow, some secret army gas is accidentally opened and the gas somehow brings the dead back to life... well, sort of. they walk around in a daze with an insatiable appetite for brains. the comedy in that movie is priceless. the guy who plays the old geezer should have gotten an academy award! it must be at least 15 years old; maybe more.

                          know which movie it is?
525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure, measure a year?

Re: Any B movie fans out there?

I used to be an ENORMOUS fan of B-movies and drive-in movies (not necessarily the same, in my opinion). Joe Bob Briggs on Showtime was one of my favorite TV hosts, and I was a diehard USA Up All Night fan, on Gilbert Gottfried nights and (moreso) on Rhonda nights.

Those Troma flicks (such as The Toxic Avenger and The Class of Nuke'em High) are among my favorites! Here are a few more I really dig:

                            Plan 9 From Outer Space
                            They Live
                            Hell Comes to Frogtown
                            The Barbarians
                            Evil Dead II
                            Gleaming the Cube
But I'm disturbed! I'm depressed! I'm inadequate! I GOT IT ALL! (George Costanza)

                              Some of my favorites:
                              • Monster in the Closet - destroy all closets
                              • Angry Red Planet - mission to Mars, 1960.
                              • Planet of Blood - vampire lady from Venus
                              • Island of Terror - bone sucking monsters
                              • The Man With the X-Ray Eyes - he can see thru you

                              Look em up at imdb.com.
                              I'm still here. Are you?
