  • best cellphone service plan in Hawaii

    where is the best?

particularly one where there are NO 1-year sign-up plans.. or even better yet.. one where you just pay for what you use and none of these complex minutes plans between limited hours and such..

    so confusing.. grr..

Anyways.. where is the most simple, most normal.. and meanwhile modestly priced cellphone plans??!!??

If you aren't tied down by a contract, you might want to give Mobi PCS a look.

$50 a month, flat rate (plus tax, of course). Unlimited incoming/outgoing calls and text messaging, long distance is included. No contract.

You have to buy a Mobi phone, and there aren't as many choices as the other carriers.

Also, if you travel a lot you may run into problems. Mobi doesn't have roaming agreements on the mainland - your phone will not work when you leave Hawaii.

But, if you don't have a contract holding you back, and only plan to use the phone locally, Mobi PCS is worth a look.

Check out this thread where much of this has been discussed, including the "pay as you go" plans like Tracfone.

nice thread.. just browsed through it.

Tracfone sounds good already.. 'pay as you go' sounds what i'd like.

Whats the basics of that plan anyways? Cost-wise..

        ---------

The Mobi PCS mentioned by Palolo Joe looks good already. Particularly only needed IN Hawaii PLUS the month-by-month plan.. PLUS flat fee unlimited.. ideal! As long as you can call the mainland no problem.. then very ideal.

Tracfone is a buy-phone, buy-minutes-on-card deal. Cheap enough. Safeway is about to start stocking the phones; they already sell the cards. Office Depot sells them, too. I think Helen uses it, and I'm thinking about it.
