  • Hostels/Camping

Aloha! We were stationed there in 2000. I will be coming back for a vacation in june/july (was stationed at scholfield barracks) and I am looking for a cheap hostel/place to stay.

I dont wanna stay in a "hotel" and spend $100 a night. I am considering staying at http://www.waikikibeachsidehostel.com/ or just camping. I have the $$$ for a hotle, but I cannot justify the considerable expense of a 10 day hotel stay when all I really need is a bed. I will be outside and visiting places on the island, and really dont care about what a hotel has to offer.

Considering camping also, any idea? Thanks!

Stuck in New York (Ft Drum!) now, and it SUCKS!

The hostel looks like a good idea to me. I wouldn't camp just for fear of getting ripped off.

Do you want me to go check out the hostel next time I'm in Waikiki?

    P.S. Thanks for your service!

      I've never camped on Oahu.

We just bought a 1970 VW Westfalia. Interior looks like a museum. I mean PERFECT. No rips. No tears. Mosquito Net and Child's Cot in place, and never used.

I'm puttin a brand new motor and trans in it. New hubs, drums, rims, brakes, shocks, tires. All the running gear. It's gonna pop wheelies when I'm done with it. Big Project. But hey, $5k dont sound like very much money for the hippest damn RV in town.

I'm gonna look just like a Baby Boomer. Without all the angst.

Probably do the hostel thing. I am planning of renting a car, you can get em at priceline.com for like $12 a day! (Car is priority over fancy place to stay!)

I personally have stayed at that hostel... I love it! Me and my bud had a private room, and it was fine for two people. You will still share the bathroom with two ppl, but we enjoyed our stay.

If you go, Ask for Maggie... and tell her that Rob from San Diego said hello!!!
