  • Gasoline Buying Habits

I get my gas at Costco. Even though I'm not a member, I just have my
dad put money on a Costco cash card and my fuel expense is paid for
a few weeks. Thus I don't have to pay 30 cents more for gas too.
I'm curious what other people do....

Lex Brodie's on Queen St. for me. It's a few cents more than Costco but it's mini-service and I like that. Nice people, too.

Costco in Kailua-Kona, of course! (I'm a member, as it sometimes pays off to buy your tires there too... and our Big Island roads "eat" tires!)

We bought a Toyota Echo 4 years ago. Doesn't take too much clairvoyance to see that war on the oil portion of our planet could raise the price of gas. We been gettin 40 mpg for long time now.

I pay what amounts to $6.58 a gallon at the only gas station for miles around.

I have a picture from April right mauka of Waikiki Chevron at $2.83 where even the beautiful sunset didn't make that seem OK.

Now, here by my house, it went down from $3.35 to $3.15 and I am cheering.

                It's all perspective.

When I was in the Military back in the late 70's, early 80's we had a briefing before we went off to Turkey to provide support for the Mujahadeen. Part of the briefing was a military analyst telling all of us that despite the growing tensions in the middle east the price of gasoline nationwide shouldn't pass $1.00 per gallon.

A lot of us there were wondering what the heck he was talking about as we thought we were preparing to hedge the Soviet attacks in Northern Afghanistan. What did oil have to do with the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union? Hmmm now we know. And I do believe it was during the Carter administration is when we got involved...hmmm
