  • Call for Extras - HIFF Trailer

I just received this notice and am passing it on to you Oahu people. No pay. No age limit. I'd participate if I wasn't working! I'm not directly involved with production...just helping HIFF. Break a leg!

    "Aloha everybody!

The Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) is looking for extras to
be featured in the 26th edition of the Louis Vuitton HIFF trailer this
year. Many of you know that the festival trailers, which show before
every screening at HIFF, are critically raved and audience pleasing,
winning numerous local and national awards, and culling the best and
most gifted players from the Hawaii film community.

The 2006 trailer is another high concept piece that will dazzle this
year's festival audience, and is to be directed by LOST executive
producer and director Jack Bender! The original concept of the trailer
came from Bender himself, who was eager to direct this year's piece.
The trailer serves as the primary advertising and artistic piece of the
festival and is shown in many incarnations locally, nationally and
internationally. The production starts Sunday, July 9, and this is when
we need extras the most. Here's the 411:

Where: Sunset on the Beach, Waikiki Beach -- Meet at the backstage,
located behind the big movie screen. A P.A. will greet you and check
    you in.
When: Sunday, July 9, 5:00PM sharp!
Attire: Dress like you are going to Sunset on the Beach -- beach
clothes (NO VISIBLE LOGOS). Bring along towels, beach chairs, cooler,
    etc.

Come and participate in one of the most inventive film productions for
the HIFF trailer! Bring your friends and family!

    Mahalo,

    Anderson Le
    Director of Programming
    Hawaii International Film Festival"

ha! that'd be fun to participate in if i had the time

question: i doubt it but do you know if past trailers are available on the web anywhere? i always thought they were well done and wished to have a copy in any format (mpeg, avi, quicktime, etc)

    thanks.

Here's last year's award winning trailer. Possibly a Google search will turn up the others or search hiff.org. Don't know if you'd be able to download them, tho'. HTH!

That was pretty neat. Great production values for a promo short. Except the credits were half as long as the production itself! Oh, and the "climax" was further proof that the Hawaii Theatre's fancy new illuminated marquee is fancy... but not half as classy or striking as an "old fashioned" marquee.

With Jack Bender at the helm, I wonder if he'll be able to resist a "LOST" theme for this year's effort?

Lengthy credits are usually the result of pro bono work! Everyone's a volunteer.

Ok, PZ, I nominate you and your ohana to hele on down to Waikiki at 5 today, participate then make a major report right here on HT!

I'm sure some readers or actual posters actually went.

However, we will see who posts about the event.

I was thinking about just walking down to check it out... but nah...

no need... hopefully someone does give us a report on it.
