  • A moment in history...forgotten in time?

61 years ago, yesterday (Aug. 6, 1945) a horrible genie was unleashed from his bottle. This genie, when put to good use, can provide energy to light and cool homes. When this genie is put to evil purposes, it kills, and it kills hundreds of thousands of people, some instantly, others many many painful years down the road.

As we remember the death and destruction that was wrought on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the years of tragedy for many survivors and their children, please pray that that genie will never be used again in that way. With Pakistan, North Korea, Iran, China, the US, Russia, Israel, India all having the capability to blow part or all of the world apart, the prayers are more urgently needed now than ever before.

Coverage of the peace event in Honolulu yesterday. And from Japan.

The Japanese continue to honor their WWII war criminals.
The Japanese continue to rewrite their textbooks cleansed of Japanese atrocities.
The Japanese have NEVER apoligized for attacking my homeland, Oahu, Pearl Harbor.

Chinese and Koreans call for the Japanese prime minister to not visit Yasukuni.

Yasukuni is seen by many in Asia as a symbol of Japan's past militarism. Fourteen wartime leaders convicted by an Allied tribunal as "Class A" war criminals are honored there along with 2.5 million war dead, and a museum within the shrine grounds is often criticized as glorifying war.
