Apparently HA is considering outsourcing some jobs in order to become more profitable. While this is a trend in the airline industry in general, HA had better take a serious look at what it plans to outsource.
Alaska Air outsourced its ground operations a couple of years ago. Since then, there have been several high profile mishaps (jetways crashing into planes, mishandled baggage, hiccups in scheduling). While it apparently has made the company's bottom line look healthier, it has been at the expense of disgruntled passengers. If the primary reason you're in business (i.e., flying people from point A to point B and having them be happy about the experience) is lost, what's the point of worrying about profitability? Eventually, you won't have any customers anyway.
