  • Aloha from the Waianae Coast

I'm skeeterbess or skeet to my online friends. Mid-fifties, female, haole. I live in Maili in a boxy little house that suits me pretty well and has enough room for my dogs to roam around a little without trampling my feeble efforts at gardening. I spend entirely too much time blogging and putzing around online. When I have to work I do termite inspections for real estate transactions - not so much lately, but hopefully business will pick up soon.

Next week I'll mark the thirteenth anniversary of my move to Hawaii. I'm Texan by birth but spent most of my life in the New Orleans area before work moved me to California and then here. I'm firmly rooted now and don't have any plans to ever move again. I love the Waianae Coast. The country attitudes, friendly neighbors and slower lifestyle suit me fine. My son has moved back to California and works in a casino. I get a little lonely for family sometimes, but am mostly pretty contented with my life.

Auntie Lynn, aka: Auntie Pupule, aka: 1st Wahine invited me to get to know the folks who hang out here. I hope I'll become an asset to your community, but if I don't ... blame her!

Welcome, skeet. I, too, live along the Waianae Coast...Makaha, to be exact. And I love it for all the same reasons you do. I've owned for 20+ years and moved out there 15 years ago. It's paradise!

Ya gotta watch that Auntie Lynn. Ya never know what direction she's gonna steer you!

Yeah, I looked at moving to someplace more central a while back, since I work all over the island. Just couldn't make myself do it, though. The Coast is home now and I'm not going anywhere!

I spent a little time with Auntie Lynn last weekend. I gotta say - the mouth on that woman - ai, ai, ai! Need some soap!

Aloha Blain! Nice to see another familiar face. I'm reading threads and trying to take the temperature of the place. Pretty comfortable so far.

Aloha e Skeeter - you saw Lynn at her best, didn't you?

I meant "helping people," not "being profane," of course. But you knew that, yeah?
