I lived and worked in Waiks through the early 70's. Loved it.
It was a far cry from the mess it is now. lewers st, da jungle, all the old cool individually locally owned bars and restaurants, the spence weaver places...
They have destroyed Waikiki. Tore it all up and down, gotten rid of any sense of place. No more economy or reasonably priced lodging. All upscale luxury condotels, hotel rooms, timescare... It is depressing. so sad. too bad.
