The prize was being offered by manoasurfer123, and he wasn't around to finish the game. So I don't know if anyone got anything other than bragging rights, which go a long way around here, at least for a day or two!
Shall we do this again this season? What do you think?

Conclusion:
None of us picked either of the SuperBowl combatants! What a bunch of LOSERS! However, Marco clearly picked better than OceanPacific or me, and OceanPacific and I clearly picked better than anyone ELSE on HT.
That was fun. Let's do it again next year!
Thanks to malia for being our impartial collector of ballots, too!

Reason: "we've got a thing that's called Radar Love!"
Just a reminder that kickoff for the early game tomorrow (Jets/Patriots) is 7:00 in the morning, so if you're participating in the playoff pick'em, please get your picks in to malia before then.
[note: I could have simplified this a great deal, but I went for throughness over simplicity. If any of it is confusing, please ask!]
Wow.
I was right. There is a sort of rebracketing after the wildcard round of the playoffs. You see, the #1 seed in each conference (San Diego and Chicago) is assured of playing the LOWEST SEEDED survivor of the wild-card round.
So. In order to submit your picks for the ENTIRE playoffs, you're going to have to pay attention. I'm going to take this one conference at a time, starting with the obviously superior AFC.
In the AFC, the seeding looks like this:
1 San Diego
2 Baltimore
3 Indianapolis
4 New England
5 New York
6 Kansas City
AFC Playoffs!
WILD-CARD ROUND (weekend of January 6-7)
#5 New York at #4 New England
#6 Kansas City at #3 Indianapolis
Pick your winners, then follow these instructions.
If you pick Indianapolis to beat Kansas City:
#3 Indianapolis at
#2 Baltimore
Winner of New York / New England at
#1 San Diego
Then for the conference championship, you obviously pick from the winners of these two games.
If you pick Kansas City to beat Indianapolis:
#6 Kansas City at
#1 San Diego
Winner of New York / New England at
#2 Baltimore
Then for the conference championship, you obviously pick from the winners of these two games.
In the NFC, the seedings look like:
1 Chicago
2 New Orleans
3 Philadelphia
4 Seattle
5 Dallas
6 New York
NFC Playoffs!
WILD-CARD ROUND (weekend of January 6-7)
#5 Dallas at #4 Seattle
#6 New York at #3 Philadelphia
Pick your winners, then follow these instructions.
If you pick Philadelphia to beat New York:
#3 Philadelphia at
#2 New Orleans
Winner of Dallas / Seattle at
#1 Chicago
Then for the conference championship, you obviously pick from the winners of these two games.
If you pick New York to beat Philadelphia:
#6 New York at
#1 Chicago
Winner of Dallas / Seattle at
#2 New Orleans
Then for the conference championship, you obviously pick from the winners of these two games.
So...figure all that out, then list your picks like this:
AFC Wild Card Winners
team 1
team 2
AFC Divisional Winners
team 1
team 2
AFC Conference Winner
team 1
NFC Wild Card Winners
team 1
team 2
NFC Divisional Winners
team 1
team 2
NFC Conference Winner
Team 1
SuperBowl XLI Winner
Team 1
Please do not post your selections! Our volunteer, neutral third-party pick-collector is malia. Click the link, then send her a private message with your picks. I'll do the same, then post my picks after the deadline, but before she sends me everyone's brackets for tallying. Does this make sense?
Scoring: 1 point for each correct pick in the wildcard games, 2 for each correct pick in the divisional games, 4 for each correct pick in the conference games, and 8 for a correct pick in the SuperBowl.
Make your picks (for the entire playoffs) and sent them to malia before kickoff Saturday!
HawaiiThreads NFL Pick'em! Here are the results for Week 17!
Hoooooooly cow! What a strange week it was, and I was sure I was going to come out of it with the most wins, because I KNEW, JUST KNEW that Green Bay was going to beat Chicago!
However. That was just one game.
So. Manoa and NachoDaddy tied with 10 correct picks each. In the tie-breaker, they both picked Chicago to beat the Packers: Manoa by 10, NachoDaddy by 7. This means that NachoDaddy is the winner of Week 17, giving him his second weekly win, making TimKona the winner of the weekly game!
Manoa wins the cumulative game, as we all reluctantly resigned ourselves to acknowledging some time ago!
Here are the Week 17 results:
10 nachodaddy --> winner by tie-break
10 manoa
9 scrivener
9 PoipuChick
8 timkona
8 oceanpacific
8 surfingfarmboy
8 random picks
8 PacBasin
7 palama kid
4 mike lowery
1 lavagal
You can see complete Week 17 stats here, and complete cumulative stats here!
So a HUGE congratulations to both TimKona, who won 3 weeks in the weekly game and to manoa, who torched us in the cumulative game, just before burning his bridges on HT. There's something to think about there, but perhaps another time.
Thanks to everyone who played -- this was definitely one of the more interesting NFL seasons for me, partially thanks to this crazy game. As moderator, I know I fumbled the ball a few times, but in the end, I'd like to think we all enjoyed the season.
I'm going to look for a playoff bracket right now, so those of you interested in a for-fun post-season pick'em (pick all your winners before the wild-card round), stick around!
Can't catch Manoa. Gotta protect my 2nd place. Only at the very bitter end will you find me choosing to "play not to lose" as opposed to choosing to "play to win." OP, if you knew me, you would consider it a moral victory to get me to cave like that.
NYGiants at Washington Redskins
Seattle Seahawks at TampaBay Buccaneers
St.Louis Rams at Minnesota Vikings
Carolina Panthers at NewOrleans Saints
Oakland Raiders at NYJets
Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals

I'm takin the UNDER against OP.
In my defense, I can only say that I chose the same teams as OP before I signed online, but I would have changed a close pick to match his, if I had needed to.
