I do too! But my plans for that site are distinctly and perhaps disappointingly mainstream. I did consider expanding the brand to include podcasts and topical blogs, but... ultimately I've segregated that "new media" stuff in my mind.

I still think Hawaii News is the best name. However here are some others you might want to toss into the pot on this.

Hawaii News Blog - perhaps a sister site to Hawaii News

You could always re-do Hawaii Stories

Hawaii Files

Hawaii Blotter

of course,they could all have THE in front of them.

Ah, Hawaii Wire was on the short list. Sadly, 'twas already taken. Hawaii Files and Hawaii Citizen similarly claimed. And there's "Blotter" again. I wonder, though, if that's a word that you hear more inside the news biz than on the street? Or maybe I need to spend more time on the street? Heh.

Yeah, HawaiiNews and HawaiiStories both have a lot of potential that's woefully unrealized. There's a good chance this new project will similarly stagnate. I'm great at coming up with ideas. It's actually executing them that's tricky!

Well..... My problem is I still don't know what kind of news site you're thinking of running. I'm somewhat attracted to "Hawaii Vox" because, well, it's different. It also rhymes with "pox" which could be an asset or a liability. Oh, maybe:

Reviving this somewhat obscure but surprisingly interesting exercise to note that I've also secured HawaiiStar.com. Not sure if it'd beat the current champion, "none of the above," but I gotta say I like it better than most of the other presented alternatives (which not coincidentally expire soon, and will probably be let go).

I loved re-reading dick's post. I do dream in grand terms but ultimately come up with things that are directionless and cobbled together with duct-tape! I still don't know what I'm thinking, but I do know HawaiiNews.com may find a new life without me.
