For anyone who remembers, Tony "The Tiger" Taylor recently wrote to me at the Hawaii Radio & Television Guide and let me post his letter to the Archive site. You can catch up on Tony's Hawaii memories and his latest news at this link:

I went to some trouble trying to find out what happened to Alan Elconin, who used to do the Islanders games after the General stopped. I was trying to update my Islanders Radio page for the baseball team. He went on to do Angels games for KMPC and one of the local TV stations in LA during the mid-1980s, but he's disappeared. I'd like to have given him more than a single sentence, since he did do the games for a year or two. If anyone knows what he's doing, please advise.

'Course, following Al Michaels, Harry Kalas and Les Keiter at that job would give anyone pause

Not really an update, just a fun memory from the blooper collection at K59 back in Alan's day. He was taping a promo for a game in which some local team was to take on, "Texas El Paso ... as opposed to El Runno ..." and he cracked up. That one was lifted from the production reel and put on cart.

That would definitely fit in the bloopers category. Thanks.

He changed his name for the LA market, btw. I remember tuning in KTLA or whatever the TV station was that the Angels game was on, hearing a familiar voice, and learning that it was "Al Conin."
