I occasionally ride an elevator with Jonathan. The elevator doesn't have a particularly low ceiling but Jonathan, nonetheless, needs to duck a little. Yup, that guy is one, tall dude...and nice, to boot!

Taimane is quite the entertainer for her young age, isn't she?

Taimane was "wicked" on the ukulele...I've got a picture of her too...before she gets even more famous.

I've been trying to watch this show, but it's painful. It's "almost" better than basic OLELO broadcasts.

                    My humble lay-suggestions:

                    a) They should focus on getting a bigger live audience. The live response to Andy's jokes is pathetic. It makes him look like he's falling on his face, when he's probably not.

                    b) Whoever is running audio needs to get on the ball and cue up Andy/down music much sooner. (If this is the director's fault, SHAME!) Too often, Andy starts his dialog while the band is still at full volume. You can't hear the beginning of his jokes for all the music coming out of the TV.

                    c) Still on the audio, Andy needs better miking. He sounds like he's performing in a hollow cardboard box. Please, get some better mics on him and put someone who knows how to mix audio on the boards!

                    d) Get a good floor producer to help keep the audience energized.

                    e) Andy, REHEARSE your jokes. Be sharp, brah. Warm up with the audience beforehand. When the red light goes on, please, KNOW what you're going to be saying and what you're going to talk about. Nothing is deadlier than a flubbed joke on-air with a small audience to amplify the fact that the comedian just laid an egg.

I don't mean any of this to be overly critical. I realize the Bumatai Show crew is trying their best, but there are some areas of the production that are just glaringly deficient, even to the untrained professional. It could be a fabulous production, with a little more spit and polish.
Make trouble, have fun, do good stuffs.

Totally agree. I think I said something like this many posts back. Good audio can make such a HUGE difference; bad audio likewise!

The lavalier(sp?) mics are omnidirectional, and inside the tropics room they have a wierd ceiling..maybe that is contributing to the quirks?

That could be the case. There's entirely too much "room sound" in the mix. Sounds like the house system is bleeding into the broadcast mix. Maybe there's too many mics left open when not needed. It takes its toll on the clarity & crispness of the mix.
