  • Tubing on Kauai

Has anyone here done the Kauai Backcountry Tubing Adventure? I'm all for donating my money to hawaii while I'm on my vacation but I'm wondering if this is worth the $99 per person.

    Thank you!

Oh...This thing is approximately 3 hrs long. We're spending all day on Kauai and plan on possibly doing this, driving around the island and getting a Puka Dog. Then flying back to Oahu. Any advice as to interesting places to drive to/through while we're there for the day?

Those tubing "adventures" gross me out.

I can think of better things to do with $99 than twirling around in an old irrigation ditch and soaking my netherparts in water that may be contaminated with leptospirosis.

So your day on Kauai does that include an overnight stay or are you flying in the morning and leaving on the last flight out for the day?

We're toying with flying in from HNL in the morning and flying back at night.

That being the case you need to factor at least 2 hours waiting at Lihue Airport for the trip back, assuming you are still going tubing you need to factor at least 4 hours. There should be enough time to go driving to one side of the island and come back to Lihue with enough time to get to the airport for the flight back.

Keep in mind you want to avoid Lihue around the 4pm to 6pm time frame since traffic is a moving bumper to bumper.

Thanks for that tip Helen! I'll definitely be keeping that in mind. So far, the flights we're looking at leave HNL Real early in the morning and get back to HNL at 9:00 at night. So really, it's going to be an entire day there.

Oh and Sinjin, that's a cool site that I hadn't seen yet. Thanks for that too!
