The Obama's will return to Oahu in December

They are schedualed to take a pre-duty rest up in Hawaii and conduct a memorial service for Toot.

It might get pretty wild this time. People need to lay low and show respect, but it will probably be the last chance to catch a glimpse of the family before they move into the White House, and leaving Hawaii as a memory for quite some time.

He'll still have family in Hawaii unless Maya's in line for an appointment that'll take her and her family to D.C.

Toot was too old to travel, so naturally Obama would come to Hawaii to visit her. Now that she's passed, Maya might end up visiting the White House instead.

Perhaps if Obama has business in Asia, he'll layover in Hawaii.

It kinda sounded like there'd be a memorial. Personally, I feel it's none of our business what the family did with Toot's remains. Maybe that info will be released; maybe it won't.

It seems unusual that it would take so long from the time of death to a funeral. Maybe it's been postponed for security reasons? Maybe security takes time to set up?

One of my dearest friends passed this past 2/16. Her funeral was held 3 weeks later to 1.) allow time to cremate and transport her ashes from Seattle where she was hospitalized and 2.) accommodate the many friends and family who wanted to attend.

Barring cultural and/or religious beliefs, services are really for the survivors. I've been to many services over the past 5 years that have taken place weeks after the death.

There's a chance that services for Toot are being scheduled around P-E Obama's very busy schedule...completely understandable to my way of thinking.

Thanks, MJ...an unforgettable date as it's also the anniversary of my mom's death. I hope to go directly from Feb. 15 to Feb. 17 next year.

Obama will, most likely, never forget either Nov. 3 or 4. Such a heavy, heavy dose of emotions in such a short period of time.
