  • Clarion DB155 Car CD/AM/FM Radio Issue

I had a Clarion DB155 Car CD/AM/FM Radio installed in my truck about 3 years ago. The face plate is removable to deter theft.Although I'm suspecting the latter is causing this problem I'm going to describe.

Intermittently the screen would lose power and would come back up again. If I removed the face plate from the unit and re connect it, the problem would go away for awhile and crop up again.

Tonight it got really bad when I tried to listen to a CD.

My question is do I have a bad unit ? Should I try to clean the contacts between the face plate and the unit ?

If you haven't done so already, go to:

    http://www.forumshawaii.net/

and click on the Security & Sound Systems banner. That will take you to their message board where you can ask your questions. I have not gone to their shop recently, but I believe they are still a Clarion dealer. Even if they're not, I'm sure that Kent and Wes will still try to help you out.

If I recall correctly, FM, you're here on the windward side. Do you (or anyone else) have any good recommendations for a windward place to buy AM/FM/CD systems? Both my car and boat came with AM/FM/cassette systems that I want to replace. Speakers in both are fine, so I just need the units.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I used to work in Kaneohe. The only car stereo business I patronized on that side was Progressive Auto Sounds, but they closed up their Windward location a long time ago. (They're still in business in Aiea. Bill and Jared get my highest recommendation for quality product and outstanding customer service.)

Other than Progressive and Security & Sound Systems, I can't make any recommendations. Only other one I can think of on the Windward side is Car Audio Specialists. But I've never bought anything from them before.
