Sony Playstation 2 Issue

My girlfriend is trying to refurnish a old Playstation 2. She replaced the bad laser ,but now the unit that spins the game disk won't work.I'm curious what is that
unit called (So my girlfriend can buy it online) or if there something she is overlooking ? She wants to give this PS2 to my nephews.
