  • 110v or 220v line question

I should know this, but I don't. What the heck is the line voltage in Hawai'i? I have two choices on the back of my amplifier and two possibilities, 110 or 220. I've looked and searched HECO's site and found nothing definitive.

It's 110 volts AC for here and the other 49 states. I don't know which countries use 220 volts.

Most European countries use 220 vac but it's also at 50Hz. Here in the US we use 120 (110 to 120) vac at 60Hz.

The frequency is very important to electronics that use clock circuits such as PLL tuning or computers that rely on accurate clock signals.

Here in the US we also use 240 vac /60Hz for our electric water heaters and ovens. It's basically two discrete 120 vac lines run in conjuntion with each other to provide twice the load (amperage) capacity for appliance needs.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.
