Firefox and multiple Gmail accounts

How come Firefox doesn't allow me to be logged into multiple Gmail accounts simultaneously? If I open a new Firefox tab, or even a new Firefox window, and go to the Gmail web site, Firefox automatically plops me back into my currently-open Gmail account. If I want to have more than one Gmail account open at the same time, I have to log into the others from a different browser, like Netscape or IE. Is there a setting I can fiddle with to change this?

Try Tools/Options/Tabs ... pick whatever setting.

Whenever I upgrade Firefox it always messes with my original settings for some reason.

You know, I never tried to do this. Off the top of my head, I also wouldn't think you'd be able to do this.

Does Yahoo! or Hotmail allow simultaneous logins to separate accounts within one browser session? I'd think almost any authentication system would tie credentials to the browser, and presume only one account can be logged in at once.

It is not possible when you login it startss a session and most likely writes a cookie, you can only have one session at a time so youd need to log out before you could start another

I guess Firefox (and Netscape, because they behave the same) must keep only one cookie for a given website regardless of how many tabs and browser windows it has open. And apparently IE, by contrast, keeps a cookie for each IE browser window, regardless whether two IE windows point to the same website. Huh. I wonder if the next IE update, which is supposed to finally include tabbed browsing, will still behave this way?

Have you tried one of the many Gmail extensions for Firefox ?
You can manage multiple Gmail accounts with this extension.
