    Re: I'm all a Twitter!

    Here's why I can't "Twitter":

    1. When I'm at work we can't have cell phones on us (if you see a Home Depot sales associate using his/her cell phone on the floor that's against company policy.

    2. When I'm on the road my TREO's keyboard makes it difficult to tap a few messages while driving.

    3. When on the night out with my family, I don't want to be bothered with cell calls unless it's important.

    4. When I'm at home I don't have a cell signal.

    5. If I want to let someone know what I'm doing, I'm usually with that person and am not interested in telling someone else what I'm doing with that person next to me.

    6. If I'm shopping, my mind is on the list of things I'm shopping for.

    7. My life doesn't revolve around my cell phone. I have an iLife not an iPhone.

The way I got introduced to Twitter was a link to one of Scriv's posts there a few months back. *ahem* I never did sign up but it looks like a fun place to say random things.

That was an interesting article. It's making me think a little more about my Tweets. I usually just say random things...but all those random things can disclose a lot about a person. So much, in fact, that I feel like I know a lot about most of my Twitter friends and we've never met in real life. But then again I learn just as much from reading everyone's posts here.
I just gotta remember not to air any dirty laundry on Twitter...

Welcome to the madness! Though really, I think you'll take to Twitter. Know how you sometimes post quick blog entries on what you're up to at the moment, or reporting progress on your 'to do' list? You can just ping Twitter as you go.

Twittering on the web is not too much quicker than logging into a blog, I guess, but you should try the SMS and IM channels for updates. They're almost second nature. Just answer the query, "What are you doing?" Busy teacher like you, you're always doing something.

We'll see if you can resist!

Actually, a lot of people ping Twitter only once a day. In fact, you can set Twitter to "nudge" you if you haven't updated for 24 hours. Lots of folks who rely on those reminders do, indeed, only summarize their world in daily, one-sentence bites. Which is still an interesting way to archive and look back at how your week or month has gone.
