Re: Hanohano's "culturally insensitive and racist criticisms"

It is mid-way through the 2014 session. Will Rep. Hanohano be able to restrain herself from making additional inappropriate remarks for the remainder of the session? Perhaps there is a chance that she'll be successful at that. But one wonders, as for actually improving her outlook about people who are not identical to her, is there less hope for that?
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.

Today's StarAdvertiser, quoting an interview by the Big Island Chronicle:

"I'm not going to change for nobody, because I am an elected official and I'm here for the people and to do the work of the people and in their best interests of everything that I have done for the people," she said. "So I have no regrets of what (has) happened."
      So there!

A year later and we are still on this? I think we have beat it to death; you can continue to comment if you want, but I think we should take our opinions to the polling booth.

A little closer reading would clue you in on this being a "new issue" under discussion. Of course, it always remains the prerogative of anyone on this site to not read a thread, and to not contribute discussion to it if they so choose. Friend, you have that right on this thread, too.

Things change. I'm not always up with the changes. Even reading recent posts, I'm not always up with the latest: one sees what one expects to see, most often. I'm not an exception.
I still think it's too much huhu - and I'm a Cultural Anthropologist.

"They’re rioting in Africa, they’re starving in Spain,
There’s hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain

This whole world is festering with unhappy souls
The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch
And I don’t like anybody very much

But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud
For Man’s been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud
And we can be certain that some lovely day
Someone will set the spark off…and we will all be blown away

They’re rioting in Africa, There’s strife in Iran
What Nature doesn’t do to us will be done by our Fellow Man."
