Auntie,
I'm not even Mormon, but I won't allow alcohol in this temple *taps abs*, much less know about alcohol, but aren't you supposed to lay wine bottle flat to prevent the cork from drying out?

Yes, when storing the bottles for months or years. But it doesn't matter after you open the bottle and put the rest in the fridge. Shouldn't have time to turn to vinegar unless you leave it there for a really long time.
Also, many wines do not use cork anymore so it doesn't matter as much for them. Even very high quality wines are using plastic stoppers instead of natural cork.
auntie: congrats on the future wedding plans! um, the looks and sound of it, you have planny to feed the troops. when's dinner? lol.
