  • Lime Recipes?

Woo hoo!!! My neighbor gave me a bunch of limes from her tree yesterday! Now I have to make something yummy with them to share with her, right? Maybe a pie, or...whatever people make with limes?

    Any good lime recipes?

Margaritas. With li hing powder on the rim of the glass.

You can use the fresh juice for a lot of dishes with fish, including ceviche. Lime and sea salt work well on steaks. Roast some sweet corn on the grill, then rub lime halves on the ears and sprinkle chili powder on 'em. Add some juice and diced rind to a shortbread cookie recipe.

You put the lime in the coconut
      You drink it all up

      Okay, okay, enough of that!

Here is an EASY, EASY Cabo Lime Pie

It is highly recommended that you use Key Limes. They are about the size of golf balls and are more flavorful, sweeter, and juicier than regular limes which are about the size of small lemons.

1 - ready made Graham Cracker Pie crust
      1 - 400g sweetened condensed milk
      1 - 8oz non-dairy whipped topping
7 tbs key lime juice (about 10 Key Limes)
      reserve grated lime peel

Mix ingredients together and pour into pie shell. Freeze for at least 4 hours. Sprinkle grated lime peel over top after frozen. Do not thaw, Serve frozen.

      This one is IFO (ono)!

I love lime! I wish someone would give me a bagful! lol I don't really make pies out of regular limes...i prefer using Key limes.

Here are some of my favorite lime recipes:
        Lime & Cilantro Butter
        • 1/4c Chinese Parsley, chopped
        • 1 c butter
        • Zest of 1 lime
        • 1 1/2 T Lime Juice
        • 1/2 t Red pepper flakes
        • salt to taste
This is really good on Grilled Chicken, Shrimp and Corn on the cobb!

        Lime sauce for Chicken Wings
        • 2 T Fresh lime juice
        • 1 T lime zest
        • 1/4 c honey (I prefer the Kauai Honey)
        • 1 clove garlic, minced
        • 2 T Cilantro, chopped(Optional)
        • salt & pepper to taste
Combine ingredients. Use as sauce for Fried or Grilled Chicken Wings.

        Lime Tea Cookies
These cookies are cake-like & great with afternoon tea! Very delicate lime flavor.
        • 2 t Lime juice
        • 2 t Lime zest
        • 1/3 c Milk
        • 1/2 c softened butter
        • 3/4 c sugar
        • 1 egg
        • 1 3/4 c flour
        • 1 t baking powder
        • 1/4 t baking soda
        Cookie Glaze:
        • 2 T Lime juice
        • Zest of 1 lime
        • 1/4 c sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, combine 2t lime juice & 2t lime zest with 1/3c milk. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes.

Cream together butter & 3/4c sugar. Beat in egg & milk/lime mixture. Mix in flour, baking soda & baking powder until smooth. Drop by spoonfuls on to a cookie sheet & bake at 350degrees for 8-10 minutes. Remove them from the oven when the edges turn golden brown.

Leave cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes after removing them from the oven before transferring it to a cooling rack.
Bitter & Sweet....all in one bite.

sorbet, curd, pies, merengue(sp), juice and freeze to always have on hand, candy, DRINKS DRINKS AND MORE DRINKS, marinade for a million things, lime chiller bars, cheviche, tarts, cheesecakes, ice cream, chicken wings, reduce the juice down with sugar to make a fun lime gastrique for both sweet and savory applications...the sky is the limit.

MEXICAN MARGARITA this is the real deal.

Use only 100% Agave tequila. Do not use a blended tequila which is only 51% Agave. It has to say 100% Agave on the label or else it is not good tequila. You have to start with a good tequila before you make a good Margarita. Never use a pre-mixed Margarita mix.

Damiana is a Mexican liqueur made from the Damiana flower - said to be an aphrodisiac!

This is the recipe served at the Tequila Sunrise bar in Todos Santos, Baja California.

            3oz - tequila
            1oz - Cointreau
            1oz - Damiana
juice of 4 fresh Key Limes

Pour into a glass filled 3/4 full with crushed ice. True Margaritas are never blended, they are served "over the rocks."

BAJA FISH TACOS (this one is a staple of my diet)

              - deep fry some small finger size filets of a mild fish like Mahi Mahi
              - heat a tortilla and put filet inside
              - spoon over some cole slaw (your favorite recipe)
              - add a couple of slices of avocado
              - spoon over some pico de gallo (tomato, onion, cilantro, garlic)
              - squeeze two Key Lime halves over everything
              - sprinkle on some picante sauce (Tabasco will work)
              - wrap it up and you are in heaven

              Buen Provecho

                Margarita's are excellent

but they are like chili recipes...everybody has one.

                3 oz. Lime Juice
                2 oz. Patron Silver
                1 oz. Grand Marnier
                Splash of Coca-Cola

Pour over a ice in a glass, stir and enjoy.

Ha, sure, if Sven doesn't mind having to scrape me off the ground and pour me back into the apartment!

The Cabo Lime Pie sounds just like one that my Auntie makes. But I don't have key limes. I'm positive that these are just regular tart limes. Can I still make that recipe? What if I add some sugar, will that work? I have so many limes that I can make both pie and margaritas. I am one lucky girl today!! Hmmm, is there such a thing as margarita pie?

Lookout Sophielynette! I'm bringing over a pie this week!!

I've still got limes!! So I made a test batch of this, Spicy Lime Chicken!! I used hippie chicken instead of chicken, the animal, and it came out AWESOME!! Gonna stir this up for dinner tonight in tacos!

Its so easy! This is the ingredient list:
                              • 3/4 teaspoon salt
                              • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
                              • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
                              • 1/8 teaspoon paprika
                              • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
                              • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
                              • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
                              • 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley
                              • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
                              • 2 tablespoons butter
                              • 1 tablespoon olive oil
                              • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
                              • 3 tablespoons lime juice
Mix dry ingredients and coat chicken. Heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Saute chicken until golden brown, then sprinkle with garlic powder and lime juice. I also added 1/4 cup of vegetable broth. Cook 5 minutes, stirring often.
