    Get a Korean partner from the motherland, and then take their stash of kimchee in the frig.

    Any one know who/where they sale very hot/spicy radish Kimchee. I hate the generic stuff you find locally made by Helms. I think that is who makes it. That stuff is as mild as mild can be.

    Mahalo cynsaligia for the info! I don't know if they sell those type of peppers here where I live. I haven't seen seen these at my local korean market. Will check out other grocery stores to see if they carry!

    i believe they're shishito peppers. you can get them fresh at queen's market in kalihi and palama market (kalihi on dillingham and near daiei, i mean don quijote, off kalakaua) as well as in chinatown. but if you're looking for the shishito banchan, you're most likely to find it at palama or queen's. as honoruru pointed out, palama has an extensive selection, as does queen's. they have the won bok and other more common varieties like cucumber kim chee already in jars but the ones like the shishito pepper kind will be sold by weight.

    Don't know what the first one is, but second one, I'm pretty sure, is cucumber kim chee. There are so many different kinds of kim chee. if you go to Palama Supermarket (next to Don Quijote Kaheka), they have dozens of different types of kim chee. My favorite banchan is won bok kim chee and bean sprout namul.

    I think this is banchan! I shop a local korean grocery and they don't have these all the time. Anyone know what these are called? I want to make this myself....I just love this stuff!!

    For the first one here when I first saw it I thought it was okra. But when I brought it home to eat, it looks like some kind of pepper. I don't know if you can see them, but there are anchovies at the bottom and they are soooo delish! This isn't spicy at all.




    The second is is cucumbers. All the red stuff makes it look spicy, but it really isn't. Again, fabulous on hot rice!
