Mekong on Beretania Street is closed; all boarded up. Does anybody know what the story is? Did they lose their lease?

IIRC, it's between Punahou and Keeaumoku. It's been there forever.

The Mekong restaurant on Beretania Street was the first restaurant that Keo Sananikone opened in 1977. I'm not sure, but I think that was the first Thai restaurant in Honolulu. A couple of years later, Keo opened a second restaurant, Keo's Thai Cuisine. And more followed. I'm not sure if Keo is still (or was) the owner of that first Mekong restaurant; I think it changed ownership later.

Keo also opened up Mekong II in McCully and later, Keoni's in the Ohana East hotel.
