Two of the funniest hostess bar names I've seen in Honolulu (not been to, just drive past) were Club Ugly and Club I'm Not Gonna' Tell Your Momma (implying a cheating spouse?). lol

that place was the coolest. too bad knock down the last old block of waikiki. was watching footage of waiks from a few decades ago... just raw footage of strolling along kalakakua. the place was so much cooler then. had a real sense of place. the catchphrase they missapply NOW when they try justify tearing down lewers and erecting high end condotels.

That's sad, k. There was also a Hamburger Mary's in Seattle a few years back, but it wasn't anything special (from my perspective - sorry if it was someone else's favorite.)
My old band (we called ourselves Mixed Plate) had one of our first shows there. We were hired by someone named Greg. When we got there, Greg showed up in drag as Tina. Well, being naive to the whole scene, and being excited to be playing, we kept thanking Greg for having us there!!! By the end he was one Mad MAHU!!!! LOL....Good Times......

Used to have that hostess bar Club New Office on Kapiolani, now it's Club Niagara.
Either way, just stepping in there makes me want to take a flea bath.
Tessie, "Nuf Ced" McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only
The coolest/oddest name for a restaurant that I've ever come across was one in Brooklyn, NY called "The Chinese Chile". It was a hole-in-the-wall Chinese/Mexican/Cuban place in the early 1970's. Never went in there to try it out because at the time, the combo of ethnicities seemed too weird. If I ever came across another restaurant like that now, I'd probably want to go in and taste the food. With age, comes a change in one's palate.
