Then there are those Korean bars such as "The Office" and "The New Office"

I will save ya jdub. The Elbow Room, Dutch Harbor Alaska. Cool name in itself however......

You remember the Discovery Channel show about Bering Sea crabbers. This is where they go right after they get their $45,000 paychecks after cheating death. Here I have seen the worse debauchery, the worse fights, and the best and worse in people.

                LMAO Lurkah!!!!!!

No......when I see a line of coke on the bar 12 feet long, two drunk girls who cannot even stand get in a knife fight with bets being placed in the background, and seeing a guy land on his head after falling off a roof drunk, then we are at status quo.

About 5-6 years ago I dated an Ensign in the Coast Guard and they'd go to that bar every Alaska patrol.

Being that they were afloat for weeks they'd be desperate to drink once they were granted liberty. Unfortunately you don't get much in Dutch Harbor besides The Elbow Room.

I wonder if I still have his pictures?

Hate to break it to ya Lei but there are three bars in Dutch Harbor: A really nice piano bar in the only hotel on the island (boring), a sports bar (depends who is on TV), and the Elbow Room.

He had choices but I kinda know why he liked the Elbow Room so much. Ya see, commercial fisherman are one of the roughest bunch of people I have ever met. I was one for years. So was my Dad. EVERYONE of them (at least in Alaska) has mad respect for the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard rescues their @sses when things get really heavy. If he sat down in the bar with his civvies and his ball cap on, two things are going to happen. One, if the bar is full he would probably never had to pay for a drink. Second, when (not if) a fight breaks out, he would be immediately protected, like there was a force field around him. No one would ever hit a Coastie. In short: great entertainment at a bargain price with the best seats in the house.

                    I can see it now......

"I miss you so much honey, there is only one bar here"
**sound of breaking glass in background**
"and the other guys made me go out"
**sound of chair being busted on someone's head**
"there is nothing to do here"
**muffled sound of a tray of vodka shooters hitting the table**
"uh, I gotta go, I 'll call you later"

                        Gotta come to Kona.

We got Pot Belly Deli AND a bar called The Office. Complete with a rolltop desk, mail slots, and a rotary telephone.

Wow there was an Elbow Room long ago in a bowling alley. It was either at the Boulevard Bowl on Dillingham across Oahu Prison(OCCC) or Kapiolani Bowl at the corner of Kapiolani and Ward.

Oh! And I almost forgot the Pig & Pie, BBQ/Bar. For several years I was in charge of food for the company picnic. I would get both Pig & Pie bbq and Jack's bbq (the best in Nashville but Perfect Pig best in TN but too far from picnic). Co-workers loved me!
