  • Missing boy rescued but police not notified?

Weirdest "rescue", a family finds a wandering boy and just ... takes him to their home.... without notifying anyone.

    Boy found safe
Big Island police Lt. Greg Esteban said Heu-Aragaki was first found, alone and shirtless, on 40th Avenue in the Orchidland subdivision, about two miles from his home. "The child didn't disclose where he came from and didn't give a phone number, so what happened was they took the boy home and they fed him and they allowed him to stay overnight," Esteban said. Police said the boy was then taken to Hilo. A relative of that family learned that the boy had been reported missing, and they then called police.
    Missing boy found safe
A family found him walking on the road Wednesday night and took him to their home where he spent the night. Police say the family is from a foreign country and the boy said he did not want to go home. The next morning, the family notified Hilo police about the boy who was returned unharmed.
KHON 10pm news reported that the boy was found by a family from a foreign country who did not think to call police. HUH?? Yes, it is great to rescue a child, but then to not know to call the police?
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.
