  • Britney Spears, icon of motherhood

Too bizarre. Some artist has created a life-size sculpture of Britney Spears. Heavily pregnant. Nude. On a bearskin rug. On all fours, with her knees spread open, her baby starting to crown. (More description, plus photos, here.)

Holey moley! That's even more bizarre than Phil Spector's hair!

Personally, I think she is really not an icon of motherhood. She was driving her car with her infant on her lap! What if she had gotten into an accident...she's an idiot. Just my 2 cents.

Giving birth is Beautiful. That is disgusting! Shame on the Artist!

I think, in addition to the scupture, this is part of the bizarreness!

Um, I think the point of the piece is irony. Or satire. Or something in the self-mocking postmodern-ish neighborhood. Look up some of the other works this artist has created. He won the Bartlebooth Award for "artists who devote themselves to truly unnecessary, painstaking activities which outside the 'contemporary art' world would get one locked in the loony bin."

He's dedicating it to the pro-life movement. Wonder who's the real butt of the joke? (Er, no pun intended.)
