This may have been posted already but some may not have read it!

Subject: Fw: Cancer News from Johns Hopkins:

    1--No plastic containers in micro.

    2--No water bottles in freezer.

    3--No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters.

This information is being circulated at Walter Reed

Army Medical Center. Dioxin chemicals causes cancer,

Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases

    Dioxins from the plastic.

Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at

Castle Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this

Health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave

Using plastic containers. This applies to foods that contain fat.

He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases

Dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

Instead, he recommends using glass, Corning Ware or ceramic

Containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin.

So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc.,

Should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper

isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper It's just safer

To use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food

Restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is

    One of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that Saran wrap is just as dangerous when

Placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is

Nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the

Plastic wrap and drip into the food.

Cover food with a paper towel instead.

This is an article I believe you should forward to

Your family and friends -- anyone who is important in your life!

Don't refill plastic water bottles that are meant for one time use, either. Chemicals can leach out of those too if they are refilled multiple times even without heat. (You should recycle those drink bottles, though).

Sorry for the bad info! I guess I will nuke that Steak on a styrofoam plate w/saran wrap over it to keep those harmless "dioxin" chemicals in. Also plan to wash it down with frozen water from a plastic bottle.

cougar88nw, Lesson learned. I also made many mistakes as well, I still do. Best to keep www.snopes.com around for future references. I've used it many times to verify email stories I get.

Please don't post mass e-mail forwards, chain letters, hoaxes, and other well-circulated (and almost always inaccurate) messages to HawaiiThreads.

A good rule of thumb is, if any message contains a line like this, passing it on should be the last thing you should do.

Snopes and other urban legend resources are great places to check to verify any assertion made in a mass e-mail. In fact, just Googling for a sentence from the message will probably turn up material to help you determine if its worth your time.

                        Be careful of potential scam!

This scam is going around and I wanted to give you a 'heads up' in case you
may be regular Home Depot customers. Over the last month I became a victim
of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get stuff for the
house has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think
it couldn't happen to you. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously
good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing
your shopping bags into the trunk. They both start wiping your windshield
with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy
T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a
tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot or
Lowe's. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start
having sex with each other. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat
and performs oral sex on you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had
                        my wallet stolen December 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, &
                        24th. Also January 2nd, 3rd, twice on the 7th, 10th & 14th, three times just
yesterday and very likely again this upcoming weekend.
                        So be careful.

Are you suggesting that Sinjin, as the PWI Culprit, could be called a "PWIC" for this posting?
