  • Re: Vanity Plates

Going to City Mill this morning, I saw a red Mustang with
    GETYUP
Dunno if that was supposed to be "giddyup" or "get yuppie", but.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Last night saw a black 300zx headed onto the H-1 freeway at a fairly high clip with the appropriate plates:

      SITH
Make trouble, have fun, do good stuffs.

Not really a vanity plate, but this made me laugh out loud. (This was in California.)

He even installed a brush guard up front. I guess so his car remains in its pristine state. General Lee? Hardly. Generally stupid is more like it.

Also, a few years back in Hawaii, I saw a Ford Escort with the license plate "BATMAN."

Sure, it's the General Lee ... just insert the first name of "Ug."

It would be even funnier if the car had The Club on it.

Looks like it doesn't even have any SALVAGE value!

Looks like a typical car here on the Big Island.

Tennis car. I've seen "kaa" used as "car" on a few plates.

Saw jdub's ride in Kalihi this past weekend:

I wanted to get Lanikai on mine. When I put in for my plates in '99 ... I figured no one in my state would have it, right? WRONG. Got my second choice... OAHU ... almost shed a tear when I didn't get Lanikai!

It's cool though, go to Hawaiian concerts or events in the area or out of state and the shakas you get. Or sitting in traffic on the way to an east coast beach and the car next to you shakas and start up a conversation about what high school you went. Of course, I'm not local; they were.

Apparently "Kaneohe" was either taken or doesn't fit, cuz I just saw a 4x4 with:

                        CONIOE

                        .

Driving over Likelike a little while ago and saw this one:

                          EHWHOU

Also saw five motorcycle cops on the townbound side of Likelike, just past the tunnel. All sitting on the side with their radars aimed. Heads up!

I could say that I'm shocked, but that would be a massive understatement. I was just at Windward Mall (and I detest malls -- I think I'm allergic to them), but as I was parking I saw a license plate that stunned me. I walked over to see if the letters had been altered in some way, but... nope. The plate is real. And for the life of me I can't figure out how our state allowed a plate that reads

                              GOD

                              .
