Two bucks is a deterrent not to lose your card.

Those riders who half assed it by wearing the mask under their chin or with their nose exposed.

For the past few years my work place offered TheBus monthly passes which were deducted directly from one's paycheck. Prior to 2019 you could option it to be pre-tax, meaning while your gross pay would go down by the cost of the TheBus pass your net pay wouldn't bear the full cost of the pass. Sure it was nickel and dimes kind of stuff but if you think about it kind of added it up, a few bucks off from Federal tax, a few bucks off from the State tax, a few bucks off from FICA. I never bothered to factor it out in the $70 bus pass days but in the $60 bus pass days, it turned out that my net pay went down around $42 as opposed to $60.

Before COVID-19 hit they were planning on giving us the Holo card around the May 2020 time line but between TheBus saying that the April 2020 bus pass will be good for May 2020 and COVID-19 causing the workers to stay at home starting in late March 2020, they issued us the Holo cards in late March 2020 and also stopping the payroll deduction as well.

I was able activate the card and put in some money to it. I tried it out a few times just to get the hang of it because in about 2 weeks I will really need to use it.

As far as the privacy concerns, yes you can check on the web (via password protected) your transactions but it will only show where and when you got on. It does not log (because you don't swipe when you leave the bus) where and when you got off.

Also the Holo card doesn't have your name stamped on it, it only has numbers on it.
