    Aloha! I'm trying to find information about daily life in Hawaii in the 1820's. Do you know anything, even through oral history from your kupunas, any stories or info from that time?

    The concept of oral history is relatively recent (from the 1940s on), so you're not going to find very much information about daily life during the 1820s. Lots of oral history about the early and mid-twentieth century, but nothing before that.

    Your best bet would be journals of people who lived during that time, but even then, information about daily life would be rare. What exactly are you interested in?

      Primarily what the palace looked like when Liholiho - Kamehameha II was in power, and if it was in Honolulu.

      Since it was a transition time from old customs and architect, to the more Westernized "modern" period. It's possible that his may have been like the palaces of old, a giant hale pili surrounded by smaller ones, in a large, fenced off compound.
