Re: Your thoughts/experiences with in vitro?
Thanks, everyone, for the great information! I guess it will be an adventurous time to come on the road to parenthood (hopefully!)...
craigwatanabe: I've heard about this before -- when you least expect it, you conceive! Perhaps the stress of trying somehow makes the boys swim funny! Perhaps we should take a "year off" and not worry about whether it happens or not, and see what surprises may come?
shaveice: Thanks for the links! I will definitely be checking them out! And it's nice to know who has a reputation here in the islands. Mahalo!
LeiKaina & Auntie Lynn: The doc didn't mention clomid, but perhaps this might be an alternative to in vitro... I guess I'll find out more at my post-op appointment.

Re: Your thoughts/experiences with in vitro?
Donna, Many, many years ago...my husband and I had a hard time getting pregnate. My OB/GYN put me on "Clomid." I conceived. My son was born on October 15, 1978. Again, we wanted another child. Back on "Clomid"...my daughter was born on October 22, 1982.
While in Vallego, California I was rushed to E.R. they thought I had a bad case of a viral infection. Come to find out ~ I was pregnate with my daughter, Christy-Lynn (Non-Clomid baby) born on Feb. 4, 1984!

Yeah I can vouch for dat.
And Donna, I'm definitely no expert on in vitro but doesn't one have to take Clomid when undergoing that? I know Clomid = mulitple children at one time in a lot of cases. How do you feel about twins or more??? Well, I'll definitely send you all my baby dust after I have this one.
Wishing you LOTS of good luck!
*edit* Wait, no I don't think Clomid and IVF goes together. I just think it's another option. Nevermind! Late at night AND pregnancy brain! Yes, I'll blame it on that!Last edited by Lei K; January 5, 2006, 10:18 PM.

Re: Your thoughts/experiences with in vitro?
if you decide to go that route, dr kosasa is very well known and respected in the field. his practice is in the kapiolani medical center for women and children.
you can read about him and the pacific in vitro fertilization institute here:

I know many many friends who went that very expensive route. Even after spending tens of thousands of dollars trying to go invitro, it's still a hit or miss proposition.
I also know of those same friends who after the stress of TRYING to get pregnant, and after just having sex for the fun of it...guess what! Pregnant without even trying.

Your thoughts/experiences with in vitro?
I have recently been diagnosed with endometriosis. While still under the lingering influence of general anesthesia in the recovery room, my ob/gyn said that our "best bet" for conception would be to have in vitro fertilization.
I have concerns about in vitro, but don't know enough to make any kind of informed decision yet. We are yet to meet with the doc for the post-op appointment and she also mentioned scheduling us with an in vitro specialist.
However, I often believe that the best information can be gathered from personal experience from real people. Did you or someone you know have in vitro? Tell me about it.... I'm listening.
We are also looking in to acupuncture for treatment of the endometriosis and to assist fertility. Any thoughts on acupuncture or alternative medicine?
Thank you in advance.Tags: None
