Thanks, but your shots of Kauai are much greater!

I was studying your earlier pics of the bay. That's an amazing boat you've got. I have limited knowledge about boats and I was curious as to whether you could take a boat like yours across the channel to Molokai or Kauai. I suppose it depends on the winds.
I imagine you know that the Molokai Channel can be one of the roughest spots in the Pacific Ocean. In simple terms, when the tradewinds are blowing they get compressed as they squeeze between Molokai and Oahu and get even stronger, and waves of 12' to 20'+ are fairly common. Think "Mister Toad's Wild Ride" on steroids.
But yes, my boat can handle it. Sea Ray's are well built. I used to have a 39' version of this one (which is only 30'). They're unusually wide, and keep the weight down low too, so they're wonderful in rough water.
Inter-island trips are no problem. Fortunately Hawaii has year-round boating weather, so we can usually afford to wait for good weather windows. But it's good to know that the boat can answer a rescue call in any kind of weather.
I'll be using it to escort some of the paddling races from Molokai to here. Should make for some fun photos!

It's pretty hard to top being in the ocean on a boat with the warm ocean air and sunshine.
I'm sure you've heard the old saying that "The worst day on the ocean is better than the best day at work."
But my favorite is this one -- "God does not deduct from our lifespan the time spent out on the ocean."
      Amene.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Great shot. I forget how sometimes black and white is 'just right' for a particular photo.

Twilight photos are some of my favorites. The cloud cover reallys adds to this one.
Your observations of my photos are appreciated. Thank you.

Lately I have noticed better photos from everyone who posts here. Keep it up!

Great shots, Mel. I loved the lady's reflection in the Maserati window!

I took some photos yesterday, testing out the new camera. I was doing projects on the boat all day yesterday (and today), but since a whole bunch of friends were taking their boats out to the sandbar I took a brief break to blast out and test the new camera there and at Coconut Island.
I had to use KodakGallery because Photobucket was acting up and I'm tired of fighting with it. So the 'teaser' photos this time are thumbnails:

Lastly, for a camera costing only a hair over $200, I'm very impressed with the 12x zoom. These two photos of Kualoa Point/Chinaman's Hat were taken mere seconds apart!:

PhotoBucket is still acting up, but not as bad. Seems like only a few of the 49 photos were affected. The slideshow is at this link. Lots of shots of reefs and coral heads, friends at the sandbar, another gorgeous reef with Marine Corps Base Kaneohe in the background, and then Coconut Island.

Definitely can't beat a 12x zoom for that price. You're getting great shots with it.

Here are a couple from the Big Island. The sunset was taken from the golf course adjacent to Kanaloa at Kona in Keauhou. The honu was at Honaunau.

Excellent shots, Jim! On a scale of 1 to 10, that honu shot is an 11.

All your shots of Kaneohe bay makes me miss living there. I might have to move back.

The shots off Makapu'u and blow hole area are sweet as well. What exactly is the camera model?

Jim, that shot of the Honu swimming under water is truly a keeper. I'd frame that and put it on the wall! so is the one of the Hanalei taro farm. Awesome.

Here's the neighbor's pet pig Kalua (shot taken yesterday), now about 1-1/2 years old...

Here he was at just about 9 months old...

It's a Kodak V712 IS. (The IS standing for Image Stabilization, of course.)

Thanks Pomai. The pics and story of Kalua made me smile. Looks like he could stand a little extra perambulation. I've always wondered about pigs as pets. Does he relate like a dog, ie liking attention, petting, scratching, etc? Is he terratorial about their yard?

Image Stabilization is great. It's a 'must have' feature, especially with the long zoom.

I didn't see any instructions about how to post to a message board or blog, so it's unlikely the problem is with your efforts. You might have to upload some photos to Flickr or Photobucket. Flickr let's you upload 100mb of photos per month for free. Here's the Flickr account sign-up page
