Haha, totally. There goes my chance of joining the Wedding Photojournalist Association. At least it'll save me the $300 annual membership fee.

Never trust a photographer who claims to have surface photos of Venus, from an altitude of 122 miles, using a 18-55mm kit lens!

Luckily you can enjoy Autumn colored leaves in Hawaii without the cold. There's this tree I walk by almost every day. Normally I pay it little attention, but this day it was "on fire":

It was an hour before sunset, so the light was starting to yellow, but it hadn't turn orange yet. That didn't explain the color of the leaves. As I got closer, I realized the underside of the leaves were golden brown. It was a windy day, which exposed the bottom of the leaves to the low sunlight:

The top of the leaves are green and waxy, while the bottom is velvety and golden brown like a fern:

Any of you plant lovers out there know what kind of tree this is?

Although I know very little about plants it reminds me of a Guava leaf.

          Thanks for the idea, D'Alani

Other than the fuzzy bottom, the shape of the leaf and its veins is very similar to a Guava leaf. Perhaps they're related?

              Some great photos here.

Can I share this ? Sent by Trish who lives further south than me. The duck is walking on the ice but she says there are signs everywhere telling you not to feed bread to the ducks as it isn't good for them ! They can't break the ice to get at the fish. Are we supposed to let them starve ?

A couple of comparison photos; this is a good day.

                Today it looks like this.

And it's stinky; smells like pluff mud. And the environmentalists are worried about my sunscreen.

Okay, here comes a few rain photos.
First two are right next to the road:

And this fowl-weather friend wouldn't leave the hood of this car, which was surrounded by a lake:

above in the mountains but I'm sure you didn't! Great shots!

Here's brown water blowing out of one of the streams:

This waterfall is about 300' high:

LikaNui--beautiful! My favorite is that extra long one of the waterfall. (And thanks for the chicken!!)

Thanks, but they're just quickie snapshots. The first ones I took from inside my car, then the brown water and the big waterfall was taken from the roof of an 8-story building.
And thanks to Cyleet99, too. The chicken didn't like me being that close, but it was clearly not going to move no matter what.
