  • The Song That Was #1 On the Day You Were Born

I thought this was fun. You can find out what song was number one on the day you were born:

"Swinging on a Star" by Bing Crosby! That one's so old even I don't remember it! Didn't we cover this subject in another thread...or at least something similar?

              "Jail House Rock" the KING!!!!!!!!!!

How appropriate I should look up your fun thread today! Being that the KING
left us on this date so many years ago. I recall where I was at first hearing.
I had a dear friend whose family had more money than sense.....We would
go up to Milwaukee to party out near Marquette where she went to school.
She would use her dad's Diner's Club card (no one even uses that anymore!)
and we'd stay in h/m(totels) in the school area. We were there for a week
hanging out and I said "Elvis is dead" and she said "i don't believe you" and
then she saw the TV with the news and couldn't believe it. It made for quite
a party that night. I still will never forget the day I heard the King had left us...........

"Moonlight Cocktail", Glen Miller and the Modernaires. I couldn't use the iTunes system to listen to it, but I found more recent versions in the newsgroups alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.{1950s, 1960s}.

Does that song go like, "Would you like to swing on a star, carry moonbeams home in a jar, if you better..[can't remember words here]...you should be swinging on a star."
