I never totally trust a person who does not drink at all, in as much as I don't trust folks who drink way too much. And I sometimes watch this show.

May I ask why you never totally trust a person who does not drink at all? How are they less trustworthy than a normal drinker?

Doesn't Hawaii rank high of alcohol consumed in percentage of the population for a state in the USA?

Not everyone can be lucky and be a 'normie'. My hat's off to you, timkona.

For some people, being sober is a way of life because they know that they just can't drink in moderation like most people.

So it begs the question, if one cannot control ones drinking, is that the only part of ones life not controlled properly. All or nothing is seldom the correct answer.

Alcoholics are people who have lost their ability to control their drinking. There is no such thing as "controlled drinking" when it comes to alcoholics.

                    You are absolutely correct.

There is no such thing as "controlled drinking!"

For an alcoholic...the first drink is their downfall to no return.

Right Lei, I hear ya. But check the corrollary of the argument which goes something like this.....

Alcohol is the ONLY thing he failed to control in his life.

It is politically incorrect, but nonetheless valid, to state that alc'ies often have other issues.

One of my life's biggest fears.

I'll come home one day, and just find my entire family and some strange dude standing in my kitchen. Everybody crying and saying that, "if I loved them I would do this for them," and the strange guy telling me that this is a family intervention.

The strange guy would then say something like, "I've been with your family for the last 2 days and I just see a bunch of people here that love you like crazy. They're going to say some things, you're gonna say some things, and then we're done. Okay?"

(Can you tell I've seen every Intervention episode ever aired?)

Does this program cover other addictions such as food? When they have to hemo the whole wall on one side of the house to get that person out of there. Why wasn't there an intervention before the scale headed towards 4 figures?
