  • Miss Hawaii 2008

It's that time of the year again!

The pageant will be broadcast on OC16 this year instead of the usual K5 this Friday. OC16's also got their Vote for Most Photogenic online voting contest here: http://oc16.tv/misshawaii2008/

They've got 19 girls in the running, and that's a lot. They usually have about 12-16. Some notable contestants are former Wahine Volleyball standout Raeceen Woolford and Angela Everhart -- who came in 1st Runner up TWICE in the last times she ran.

The Miss Hawaii official website doesn't seem to be running because it looks like they didn't pay their bill. I'm not sure if it was ever maintained because up until recently they had LAST YEAR'S information up. Knowing them it'll probably be up and running the day before they go live.

I'll be rooting for Raeceen and Caroline Chapman this year! Best of luck to all the ladies!

You're so fickle. So much for Cheryl Burke-Lowrey!

Alana Paulo-Tamashiro gets my vote across the board. And it has nothing to do with having attended her baby luau! Well, maybe just a little! That, and I used to cast her mom in commercials all the time during the late 70s-early 80s. When a mainland director would tell me he was looking for the epitome of a gorgeous, exotic, Hawaiian lady, I knew immediately that Alana's mom had the job in the bag! I was always right! Of course, Alana's mom isn't Hawaiian but mainland clients just didn't know the difference. They always chose their image of "Hawaiian"! Alana and her mom are, to this day, spittin' images of each other.

      GOOD LUCK, ALANA...

They had the contestants on the KHON Morning News this morning.

I was at some of these contestants after hearing how they sound! Seriously, I don't know how they got past the Preliminary Pageant.

Based on my experience in going to some of these prelim pageants, I know that contestants often run in multiple pageants until they get that prelim title. I know this sounds bad (and I may get flamed for this), but based on what I saw this morning, I can't help but think that with 19 girls running, the standards can't be all that high. Want to run for Miss Hawaii? I've got a title for you!

I know some prelim pageants (like Miss Kona Coffee, I think) require that you have to be a contestant from that area. I don't think you have to be from Kauai to run in Miss Garden Isle and Miss Kauai.

Here's another website that lists the contestants, their school, and their platform: http://www.tftj.com/db/preliminary.htm/22/4/2008/376

Correct. One of the Dung *giggles* sisters from Oahu was Miss Kauai or Garden Isle.

Well it would figure, 'cause they don't make 'em like THAT on Kaua`i.

As far as Most Photogenic, it definitely is between Alana Paulo-Tamashiro and Caroline Chapman. Both have winning smiles. I’d like to see the rest of them. [/pinc]

Did anyone else notice the awkward silence after the winner was announced? Oh that's right, it's because no one knows who she is.

Our new Miss Hawaii was Miss San Jose 2007 and ran for Miss California last year. A search for 'Nicole Fox' and Miss San Jose brings up sex tape info.

I can't help but think our hometown girls got screwed this year. The broadcast was poor and filled with all kinds of technical difficulties.

I don't know how old she is, but I really do hope that Caroline hasn't met the age limit yet and decides to run next year.

How many radio personalities or porn stars have their last name being Fox, Foxx, or Foxxx?

She's pretty. How come it says in her California profile (dated 2007) that she performed in the opening ceremonies of the World Games in Beijing? If she's talking about these World Games, these games have never been held in Beijing. If she means the Olympics, has she returned to us from the future?

Also, is it a big deal that the Concert Hall was only half full for this thing?
