I saw that too. Letterman mentioned that the audience member, Henry Winkler, and Letterman little exchange sounded like a skit.

While not scheduled for tonight's (Thursday - 9/9/10) show, Henry Winkler was in the audience watching the show until another audience member pointed out to Dave that Henry was there.

Also Jack Hannah is on the show.

BBC News today called him a "legend". Carson, yes, Letterman and Leno, NOT.

Yep, it's definitely Letterman. He's been doing that for years and years. And every time (whether you see him running or not) he walks out, stops at stage right and talks to (or pretends to) someone backstage, while pointing at his watch.
Maybe just some 'good luck' routine?

Sometimes when his show starts someone is running behind the screen going from left to right. I don't know if this Letterman himself or someone else is doing the running.

Is he still tweeting or was it a one time thing? Who registers and then only posts one time?

He was belittling Twitter. It was a bit.

"Do you smell veal and peppers?", was his tweet.

I think Tiger Woods needs to do that too. Man this guy just can't keep his pants up. He's better than Clinton!
