Mileage on electric vehicles over the Pali
Does anyone know how driving over the Pali affects mileage on electric vehicles?
I know on my gas powered car, I see a significant drop in MPG when driving over the Pali.
How does it affect EV? For example, one EV claims 40 miles per charge. Does anyone have first hand experience on the Pali? How many miles per charge if you drive over the Pali?
Mahalo!
Re: Mileage on electric vehicles over the Pali
I don't have an EV, but the way I understand it, their regenerative braking systems would recharge their batteries as they roll downhill. So even if they use a lot of electricity to get up the hill, they'd make some (most?) of it back by the time they got to the bottom on the other side.
Re: Mileage on electric vehicles over the Pali
Is that true with pure EVs as well or just hybrids?
Re: Mileage on electric vehicles over the Pali
According to Nissan's sales literature, the Leaf has regenerative braking. I don't know how it compares to similar systems in hybrids, but I would imagine they are all very similar.

Under these circumstances it is best to carry a long extension cord in the trunk.
They will think you are just waxing the floors.
Some of these Lithium fueled cars burned up when submerged at port
Personally , I would go to higher ground before the batteries explode.
Thats the nice thing about remote islands. One can grow some food.
Nobody can eat batteries.:)
