Your 2013 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductees.
I wonder if Ravi Shankar is in the HOF. He passed away today. :(
While a brilliant musician and influential in many realms (from folk to rock to classical to jazz), I don't know that the "rock & roll" HOF is the appropriate place for a celebration of him and his works. Though it wouldn't hurt to give him a tribute segment at the Grammies in February, along with another rhythmic innovator, Dave Brubeck.
I was pleased to see two HOF honorees this year with ties to Seattle: Quincy Jones & Heart. While I've not met Mr. Jones, we have communicated electronically, as he's one of the big influences on me as a producer; and I've worked in the studio a couple of times with Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart (engineering broadcasts for the syndicated "Rockline" show).
Many of the older HoF in-house voters have given way to younger and less rock oriented bunch, as the years pass there will be fewer inductees that reflect the RnR aspect and it'll be evermore a modern outlook. It's already proved it's uselessness by accepting non rockers and dismissing true RnR's their moment.
