Coworkers introduced me to Spicy Ahi & BBQ in Pearl City. Tucked in back of a cramped strip mall next door to a pet grooming salon and Blockbuster and offering an unimpressive view of the parking lot, this place turned out to be quite a gem for bright, fresh, well prepared and great tasting food. I had the chirashi, pictured above, which was basically a beautiful bowl of deliciousness. I was in heaven!

            Wa-wa-woo! Looks so oishii.
How are the prices there? I'll have to put that one under my "Must Try" list.

              That was beautiful, PZ.

Greek gyros plate to go. Hot tea with lemon (my office could double as a morgue), giant leaves of lettuce from Costco to up my greens quotient. It was good. Sometimes I just need lotsa protein!!!!

Cheeseburger and a bottle of water. Then later on (and maybe still going) leftover fun sized Halloween candy and a bottle of Diet Pepsi.

Cheeseburger, sushi and a fruit punch from McCully's Zippys. After a couple of hours there had a bowl of Portuguese Bean soup and another cup of fruit punch.

a corn dog and a small bag of sour cream & onion chips. forgot to pack lunch; had to buy whatever the ninth-graders were selling today.

Coworkers took me to lunch at Ideta Restaurant in Kalihi (620 Kohou St.). Considering my fondness for cozy, old-school, slightly musty Japanese eateries (I miss Wisteria!), I can't believe I've never been to this place. The sushi looked bright and fantastic, and the meal portions pretty generous for lunch. I went with the "Ideta Teishoku," with saba, chicken teriyaki, tempura, sashimi, shredded cabbage salad, Japanese-style potato salad (almost mashed), atsuyaki tamago (sweet egg omelet), and a round breaded something-or-other I didn't even have room to try. Delicious. Next time, I'm getting the tempura and sashimi combo.
