I have prepaid Tracfone plan, and I'm considering going to Verizon or Sprint for unlimited plan. Going to use it for email, text, web browsing, gps, video, camera, etc, just about everything.

    Uber

I've been trying to use Uber instead of calling a cab. So far, it's been okay. I have a question for those who use this company.

    How much to tip taxi?

I usually take short cab trips. If the fare is only $11.60, and it's just me and no luggage, how much tip should I give? I've been giving $14.00, which is 20%... do you think it's fair?

    Re: 2014 General Election Day

I mailed my absentee ballot a week ago. People are talking about the decline in voter interest, but I think Maui might have a pretty good turnout because of the GMO issue.

I've seen opihi at that seafood concession inside Foodland Kahului (the one near Sears). Or maybe Takamiya Market in Happy Valley might have? It's hit or miss... should call first.

    Re: Hawaii TV new anchors

My pet peeve is that most of the female newscasters wear so much eye makeup -- thick black false lashes and black liner. These women are so attractive... they don't need all that junk on their eyes.

    Calendar for Oahu Activities

Is there somewhere online that posts all upcoming Oahu events for the year? We like to visit Honolulu twice a year, but we try to avoid the times of year when it will be busy. We avoid all holidays,...

To hawaiiguy, re edamame... Thanks for the hints. I think I'll try your recipe. The last time I bought frozen edamame, it was tasteless (is it from China? I forgot to check the package). The...

Re: Least Favorite National TV Ads

I think it's a State Farm ad, where a young lady believes everything on the internet and walks off with a date (a French model) she found on the internet. Blech.

"Oh my God." That phrase is so overused. I admit, I say it on occasion, as well as "OMG" while typing... but I've been hearing it so often that it's become annoying.
