    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

This is drifting off-topic, but yeah, KHET is pretty much doomed. The idea is to turn it into a feeder station that regurgitates national product, like those "local" radio stations that are...

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

Easier to take the high road, I guess, when staffers work the phones getting the gossip out. And it WAS news. Not big news, but something.

This person was also calling up legislators past and present and dishing Wikipedia's beef on Ryan. That's how I found out.

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

Sounds like Ryan was originally suspended for the unattributed facts he didn't make things up but the highly public outing gave the newspaper no choice. A newspaper's credibility is everything....

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

I heard he's already received one of the harshest (but non-firing) punishments ever meted out at the newspaper. Plus, online knuckleheads are kicking him while he's down.

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

After looking at the "evidence," what is annoying about this particular case is that the sentences cut-n-pasted were so inconsequential. Mostly lists of facts, no creative writing at all. It's not...

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

    Two lessons here:

    * Don't cut and paste ANYTHING, even facts. The Internet has made it too easy to do so. But it has also made it way easy to catch textcribbers.

    * No matter what you do, no...

    Re: Thoughts on plagiarism?

Isn't Tim Ryan the entertainment guy who writes about three times more stories than anyone else and who constantly scoops the competition?

I used to control-line a Cox Stuka out in Aiea. Over-powered, and that's what killed it. One day it climbed faster than I could manage the elevators and it stalled directly overhead and dived right...
