The HawaiiThreads.com community is now in beta testing mode! Please pardon our pixeldust as we make sure everything is working.

    Default Update!

Moving right along... Most of the setup and design bugs have been stamped out, but let me know if you experience or see anything weird.

Yes, there are way too many topic areas. After we get a feel for what people actually talk about, things will get combined or rearranged as needed. For now, most everything is covered.

HawaiiThreads.com has also now been linked up with its "partner sites," HawaiiAnswers.com, HawaiiNews.com and HawaiiStories.com, and a smattering of Google Ads placed to help snare folks searching for "Hawaii chat" or "Hawaii forum" - so here's hoping more folks can find us.

On the "goodies" side, I've made a handful of little avatars, or icons you can use to represent yourself on the board. I've even made a plumeria icon for the site, so if you bookmark HawaiiThreads.com in your browser, or drag the HawaiiThreads.com address from your browser to your Windows desktop, the site will be represented by a pretty flower rather than a cold, blue "e."

OK.. here is something weird... Using my Yahoo email address as my registering address, the notification email to activate my account ended up in my Yahoo BULK email folder along with the usual viagra and scam spam emails.

How can that be when this domain is probably brand new?

Interesting. Sadly, I don't think the filter is domain based, or at least not primarily domain based. I'd bet it sniffs around for specific words or patterns, and I suppose an e-mail that talks about "your new account" or confirming this or that might very well trigger a "spam" flag.

Good to know, though. I'll try and include a note to that effect in the e-mail confirmation explanation on this site.

And welcome, macpro! As you might imagine, the success of your forum was one of the inspirations of this one.
