Dave, nobody's even reporting yet. Polls don't close for another two hours!

On past performance, we won't even see the first of three or four printouts till 7:30pm HST.

I've been looking around but not finding anything yet. Here's a link to the official results page.

Dang nab it. I got two robocalls from Linda Lingle this morning, again on my cell phone, and just now, a volunteer in a phone bank named Kathy rang me, just in case I forgot today was Election Day.

At least her number wasn't blocked. Wonder if she called from her personal cell phone?

At my polling place, a lady was trying to get people to try out the electronic voting machines. No thanks, I'll stick to filling bubbles out with a ballpoint pen.

            That's odd.

When I fed my (paper) ballots into the counting machine (the clerk had the voters do it), it didn't count my ballots until the second (City Charter) ballot was fed (from voter count #62 bumbed to #63).

I hope you returned to your polling place to rectify it.

I called the election commission and the first person acted like this was the first thing they were hearing about the problem. Come to find out this was the case for everyone who voted early this morning at that location. They claimed our ballots would still count but I don't believe it. It would explain why they kept having problems feeding the ballots into the machine and said the machine was misbehaving.

on KGMB Brooks Baehr is reporting that several polling places have run out of ballots. I conclude two things: Lots of voters. Discouraged voters. Sheesh. No wonder Hawaii has the one of the worst voter turnout records in the country. Or THE worst!

Re: General Election Day Live Thread

I had to work from 6:30 a.m. this morning, so I couldn't vote early like I always do. I arrived at my polling station a little after 4:30 p.m. (Washington Intermediate) and there was no line, which surprised me. I thought afternoon voting was suppose to be busier. From the looks of the number of signatures on the list of registered voters where you're supposed to sign off on, voter turn out (up to 4:30 p.m. at least) looks very sparse.

Also, I did not see a single sign-waver.

That's OK...Lingle was the only Republican I voted for.

                          First printout is in!

Lingle leads 61% to 38%. KITV's Denby Fawcett is talking with Malama Solomon and she sounds upbeat and optimistic at this point.

                          Senate: Akaka 65% Thielen 34%
                          House #1: Abercrombie 69% Hough 31%
                          House #2: Hirono 64% Hogue 36%
Maui Mayor: Tavares 54% Arakawa 42%
